Meet the May 2018 Students of the Month
On-Campus Student: Ella Ingram
Recent graduate, Ella Ingram, graduated with her Bachelor’s in Organizational Leadership in May 2018. She is an excellent student and is heavily involved on campus. Ella was exceptionally involved with her sorority, Alpha Gamma Delta, and has held a position for three of her four years at school. She also participated in Order of Omega and National Society of Leadership and Success. Outside of her school activities, Ella’s hobbies include; reading, yoga, running, spending time with friends, and spending time with her fiancé and puppy. Her first year at FHSU, Ella was given the opportunity to work in Leadership Programs. While working she decided to go ahead and obtain the certificate. After she had accomplished that, she enjoyed the classes enough to pursue a minor which eventually led to a major change. Ella was uncertain of her career path making a leadership degree a good fit due to its flexibility. The classes that Ella has enjoyed the most while in the program are LDRS 450, Advanced Leadership Behaviors, LDRS 640, Principles of Civic Leadership, and LDRS 670, Leadership and Personal Development. Ella felt that her great experiences in these courses were because of her wonderful instructors. Through each course and different instructor, she learned not only many new leadership skills but also a great amount about herself.
Virtual Student: Christie Ewing
Currently living in Mulhouse, France, Christie Ewing, is a recent virtual graduate. She graduated in May of 2018 with a Bachelor’s in General Studies with a concentration in Business and Organizational Leadership. Christie has been involved with several non-profit organizations over the past 20 years. She believes that involvement in the community is very important, and she has encouraged her children to volunteer as well. Outside of school and community service involvement, Christie loves to travel. She has visited a mass of countries in Europe over the past sixteen months and has experienced and learned much about different cultures, foods, and history. Leadership Programs sparked Christie’s interest with its unique and interesting courses. Her favorite course was LDRS 420, Women and Leadership. Christie enjoyed the history of the course and learning to understand the importance of mentorship, social responsibility, and leading by example. Now that she has completed the concentration requirements, she is more than happy with the information she has learned. Christie found that the skills she has gained from the courses were an asset to any career path she chose.
International Student SNU: Su Wanqi
International SNU student, Su Wanqi, is a junior and majoring in Organizational Leadership with a concentration in International Trade. She is originally from Liaoning, Jinzhou, China. On campus, Sue is involved in Shen Yang Normal University’s trade association. Outside of school, she involves herself with several small businesses. Sue owns a small fruit dessert shop which is very popular during the summer months. She also sells a non-additive skin care product. Before Sue got involved with Leadership Programs, she did not have a strong understanding of what leadership meant. Since joining, she now has a better understanding of leadership skills and it has modeled her into a better person. Her favorite leadership class taken was LDRS 310, Field Work in Leadership Studies. She enjoyed this course because she was required to do a group service project about children’s health. Sue felt that she was not only being educated on her leadership skills, she was also making the world a better place.
